What happens to Data after the Salesforce Org is Deactivated, Expired or Locked

We all knows that we can deactivate our salesforce org or delete it. But have you ever wondered what will happen if you did it by mistake ?

You might have following questions in your mind in that situation -

- Where will be the data now ?

- How to get it back ?

- Is it deleted completely ?

In this blog you will get all your answers :

How to Deactivate an Org ?

  1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Company Information, and then select Company Information.
  2. Click Deactivate Org.
  3. Enter the org name to confirm its deactivation.
  4. Click Deactivate Org.

Can you Reactivate the Deactivated Org ?

The answer is yes you can but you will be having a certain time for that :
  • From 1 to 30 days : You can change your mind and reactivate the org from setup.
  • From 31 to 60 days : You can not reactive it as it's LOCKED now. But still you can contact salesforce support to reactivate the org.
  • From 61 days and later : The org is permanently deleted and can't be reactivated. Even the salesforce support won't be able to help you after 60 days of deactivation.

Grace period for Data backup ?
Once the paid subscription expires or terminated, the org status will be updated to LOCKED and you won't be able to access your Account.
Active or paid organizations have a 120 days grace period during the LOCKED status. You can ask Salesforce Support for data backup during this period.
After 120 days period the org status will be updated to DELETED and you won't be able to retrieve the data.
